“Calvin and Hobbes” Documentary Trailer
Christine: Calvin and Hobbes, a comic written and drawn by cartoonist Bill Watterson, was a big, big part of my childhood. I discovered the awesomeness one day when I was hanging out bored in a bookstore, flipping through random books – and from that point on, I made sure to collect all the Calvin anthologies I could find. I used to read and re-read them religiously. Every once in awhile I still pull the books out and go through them for my favorite strips.
So when I heard there was going to be a documentary made on Calvin and Hobbes named Dear Mr. Watterson, I was understandably excited. Directed by Joel Allen Schroeder and funded in part by Kickstarter, the film will look at Bill Watterson’s career as a cartoonist, as well as the impact both the comic and Watterson had on the world.
Watching the trailer gave me such warm and fuzzy feelings, which is why this is my PCP of the week.

Hera: I discovered this band while browsing through my local record store. A good but unfamiliar song was playing over the loudspeakers – and Christine used that Shazam app that identifies which song you’re listening to, which told us it was by The Neighbourhood. Then, today, I heard the lead singer being interviewed on NPR and I figured it was a sign that I needed to go home immediately and buy their album I Love You.
Last year, the alt-rock group – based in sunny California – released “Sweater Weather” on their free EP entitled I’m Sorry… and the song was re-released on their official debut album I Love You. Between “Sweather Weather,” “Afraid,” “Let It Go,” and “Female Robbery,” I’m not sure which one is my favorite.
They’re all excellent songs and “Sweater Weather” actually charted on Billboard last month.

Comic Con 2013
Max: I’m not about to reveal that I went to this year’s nerd-o-palooza or anything, since I lack the funds for any sort of fun in my life, but I sure have been reading about it plenty.
Really, I just appreciate the gathering for its information dumping. Reporters swarm the place, and us fans learn all sorts of fun spoilers for upcoming things, whether they’re movie, tv shows, comics, or books.
This year, I got info on some of my favorite things (in some cases, shows that I’m hoping will become my favorite things), including: Veronica Mars: The Movie, Agents of SHIELD, The Avengers 2, The Hunger Games, and many more.
Also, there were costumes.
